A records search contained the following information, the Lake County Land Bank director Ohio State Representative John Rogers has proposed donating a building to HOLA to create a Hispanic Center in Painesville, Ohio. The Executive Director of HOLA is Veronica Dahlberg.
HOLA has applied for a Federal USDA grant to rehab the building and a $2,500.00 grant from the Ohio Commission on Hispanic Latino Affairs for the cost of the design and blueprints.
A record dated March 4, 2016 stated, Rep. Rogers will have the building gutted on the inside, so that it is a clean slate. He will also have a new roof installed.
The Lake County Land Bank receives 5 percent of the fees charged on late payments of property taxes and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding.
A record dated April 20, 2016 stated, the center would serve as a permanent home for HOLA
Why should tax dollars be used to support an organization that advocates for illegal aliens?
A La Raza article states The number one concern for HOLA members is immigration reform.
"People need to come in the proper way. ... I believe that immigration policy needs to be looked at," former Painesville Councilman Hal Werner said. Veronica Dahlberg, executive director of the Latino advocacy group HOLA, said that proper way is long and difficult.
"It's costly, there's a lot of paperwork and bureaucracy, going to this office and that office," she said.
Veronica Dahlberg, executive director of HOLA Ohio, a grassroots advocacy organization based in the Painesville, Ohio area, stated her group’s community organizing efforts now surround the effects on undocumented families of immigration enforcement. HOLA Ohio has formed chapters across northern Ohio in different congressional districts, in order to push the immigrant reform agenda directly with elected leaders.
While crusading for yet another illegal alien to not be deported, Veronica Dahlberg had a message for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE):
"This is a purely heartless move by ICE, plain and simple. And based on the showing we had on Monday, ICE should be prepared to deal with the wrath of the entire community if they think they simply get away with ripping a father away from his children. This is not right, and we won’t stand for this. ICE either needs to follow their own policies and keep Ricardo with his family or face the consequences of their unjust and immoral behavior."
These people made the decision to ignore our immigration laws, and our tax dollars should not be used to support their lawlessness. Instead of donating this building to HOLA the Lake County Land Bank should look into a center that would benefit the entire community.
